BUILT FOR EVERYDAY OPERATIONS

Resources chosen around your workload

KVM virtualisation

Run your application in a virtual machine environment. Compare the vCPU, memory and storage included in each plan.

Weekly offsite backups

An additional recovery option for your server. Maintain and test your own backups for business-critical data.

IPv6 support

Plan for IPv6 connectivity and verify your firewall rules and application listeners after deployment.

High-clock compute. Backups included.

Run dynamic sites and application workloads on high-clock CPUs, with automated weekly offsite backups included in your plan. A practical foundation for both everyday compute and recovery planning.

NETWORK / UK / London

Evaluate the route before you move the workload

Customer networks, cross-border routing and external dependencies shape application response times. Compare latency, packet loss and throughput from the networks your users actually use.

UK · Network
Connection pathWhat to measureSuggested method
Local customers → applicationPeak-hour response and mobile packet lossPing / MTR at several times
Remote team → administrationCross-border routing, jitter and remote accessTest from your operating network

SOLUTIONS / UK / London

Build around the workload, from storefront to recovery

Separate customer requests, background jobs and data recovery so each part of the service has an appropriate resource budget.

01

UK storefronts and SaaS backends

Host UK-facing storefronts, subscription services and API workers. Keep databases near the application and schedule catalogue imports around British trading hours.

Plan for memory, transfer and image caching

02

UK SaaS and fintech API services

Run sign-in, subscription billing and API workers for British customers. Keep payment dependencies and database round trips in the latency budget, with explicit timeout and retry policies.

Plan for vCPU, database connections and queues

03

Business continuity for UK teams

Schedule maintenance around British trading hours and set backup frequency around order and account updates. Apply access reviews and audit logging to shared file services.

Plan for storage, retention and recovery time

01

Size the workload

Budget for your application runtime, database, logs and expected growth rather than choosing by CPU count alone.

02

Check transfer and billing

Bandwidth is a connection rate, not an unlimited transfer allowance. Review both alongside your billing term.

03

Deploy after checkout

Choose an OS, review the order and complete payment. Track provisioning in your POWOKE account.

DATA & COMPLIANCE / UK / London

Make data placement part of your deployment plan

01

Data responsibilities

For UK personal data, assess UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 duties. Define the responsibilities of your business and its service providers.

02

IP and platform requirements

Check the dedicated IPv4 allocation and actual IP classification. Data centre addresses are not residential IPs; platform acceptance depends on its rules, account eligibility and use case.

03

Backups and recovery

The server and its offsite backups may be in different locations. Confirm backup regions, access permissions, retention and cross-border processing for customer or payment data.

DEPLOYMENT CHECKLIST

Ready for your first production workload

A practical handover checklist, from sizing the instance to moving live traffic.

  1. Size the whole application

Budget RAM for the app, database and workers together. Leave storage headroom for updates and logs, and keep recovery copies outside the instance.

  2. Test from your audience

Test APIs and websites from your target market. A 1Gbps port is burst headroom; memory, transfer quotas and application dependencies still shape capacity.

  3. Prepare a safe cutover

Apply updates, set up SSH keys and restrict inbound access. Restore a backup in staging, then plan DNS changes and a rollback path.

  4. Check the recurring cost

Review renewal pricing, IPs, licenses and backup charges. Confirm provisioning and resize behaviour before setting a launch date.

BEFORE YOU DEPLOY

Questions before you deploy

Find answers about location, operating systems and billing, plus backup coverage and options as your workload grows.

Should I choose the UK or mainland Europe?

Choose the UK when most customers are in Britain. Germany, France or the Netherlands are alternatives for audiences concentrated in mainland Europe. Keep database-heavy applications near their database, and compare response times from your largest customer markets if your audience spans both.

Which operating systems can I install?

Choose from Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Fedora and SUSE, plus Windows Server and lightweight Windows 10 / 11 images. Windows needs an eligible plan: the current entry tier has 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 20 GB SSD storage. Smaller plans cannot select Windows because of resource limitations. Check the OS selector for the versions available with your chosen plan.

Where can I check prices and billing terms?

Click View plans and pricing, then select a plan and billing term to see the total due. Monthly, quarterly, six-month and annual terms are shown where available, with applicable discounts reflected in the order summary. For an existing server, open its management page in your account and choose renewal to review the available terms and renewal quote before paying.

Are offsite backups included in the plan?

Yes. Automated weekly offsite backups are included at no extra charge. Each backup captures data at a point in time; changes made afterwards are not continuously replicated. For frequently updated orders or databases, add daily or more frequent application backups to reduce the amount of recent data at risk during recovery.

Can I upgrade or reset my transfer allowance later?

Yes. Where self-service upgrades are enabled, your server management page lists larger in-stock plans in the same location that support your current billing term. Review the quote and pay, then shut down and power on the server after the upgrade to apply its new resources. A paid traffic reset clears usage for the current allocation; it does not permanently increase your monthly transfer allowance.

Starting configurations are references from the product catalogue. Live plan cards and checkout govern current prices, stock, transfer allowances and operating-system requirements. A 1Gbps port is a ceiling, not guaranteed sustained throughput.

FROM ORDER TO LAUNCH

Plan your purchase and acceptance checks

  1. Before ordering

Confirm resources, renewal costs, payment options and delivery timing. Request a product-specific test IP and check routes from your users’ networks.

  2. After provisioning

Match CPU, RAM, storage, IPs and OS to your order. Verify login, remote management access and connectivity.

  3. Before going live

Run a representative workload and test backup recovery. Save your results and open a support ticket if the delivered configuration differs.
